Pet Stars!
Bio of Cha Cha (AKA Cha Cha Miller)
Hi, my name is Cha Cha. You could say I’ve been a ‘regular’ at AnnaBelle’s Day Care Depot for about a year now. My mom (Marianne Miller) and I both love it here!! Day Care Depot has turned me from a wallflower into the ‘Belle of the Ball.’
I was born in Howell on February 5, 2009, to a Chihuahua father and a Toy Poodle mother, so they call me a Poochie. Although, I was obviously the prettiest out of my litter, I was so shy that I was the last to be adopted. When my mom came to see me, I knew she was the one, so I was friendlier to her. She held me, gave me a sweet kiss on the cheek, and put me down. To my breeder’s surprise, I walked back to her and wanted more attention. It was a match made in heaven. The next day my mom took me to my new home and introduced me to my kitty sisters.
My house was wonderful and I loved my mom, but I didn’t want most people to hold me. I would get scared when she would hand me to them or they would pick me up. Instead of playing, I would bark at my kitty sisters and other dogs to try to scare them away because I was scared. I only wanted to be with my mom.
One day my mom took me to AnnaBelle’s for a half-day of daycare. They were very nice to me, but I tried to hide under the table. The little dogs were very nice, but I wasn’t confident at all. The nice people at AnnaBelle’s encouraged me to play and have fun with the other dogs. Before long, I was playing and having a wonderful time. They taught me clicker training, agility training and some really cool tricks. After a few weeks, when my mom took me in the door at AnnaBelle’s, I’d run down the stairs without looking back. I’m much more confident and have an easier time communicating with dogs and people.
I developed a crush on Benny the Chihuahua, so I could hardly wait to go and see him every week. He must have reminded me of my dad. (We’re just friends now.) My mom started taking me to AnnaBelle’s Day Care Depot for a full-day each week, and now I get to go for two full days a week. I have so much fun playing and making new friends. The people that work there are so nice and take me for great walks.
Mom recently held my 2nd birthday party at AnnaBelle’s Day Care Depot, so I could share the fun with my dog and people friends. It’s so great to have a place to go and play where I feel comfortable, playing with dogs my own size or ones that don’t scare me, and the people understand me. Mom’s going to take me to AnnaBelle’s for some training this summer. She says I’m not quite perfect yet. It’s fun to learn and play at AnnaBelle’s!!!

Jalopy
Hi! My name is Jalopy and I live in Lansing with my Mom and Dad. My favorite toys are a tie between anything that squeaks and balls. I also love going for walks with my Mom and Dad and my Nana, of course!
My Mom and Dad adopted me in September 2006 at the age of three from a nice lady who lives in Leslie and trains dogs for Leader Dog. I am a former Leader Dog for the Blind who had a career change in 2006 that allowed me to be adopted out.
You may recognize me because my parents take me all over town. I especially like the East Lansing Dog Park, Cones and Bones, Old Town and of course, the campus of MSU - Go State! I also like to go on vacations up north to Harbor Beach to visit my extended family and go swimming in Lake Huron.
My favorite treats are vegetables, popcorn and ginger-snap cookies. My Grandad likes to share ginger-snaps with me when my Mom and Dad are visiting. Sometimes, my Grandad will pack some up for my Nana to bring to me when I am at MSU.
I have been told I have a unique name and have not met another dog with the same, so chances are if you hear Jalopy being called, it's me - so please stop over and say 'hi' as I like to meet new dogs and their people too!
I have to run; my Mom says its dinner time! I am looking forward to meeting everyone soon.

Roxie
Hi! I's da Roxie, and I gots sooooooooo much to barkbarkbark about! MeanOleMom says I's a RESCUE....it's good to be a rescue!
Somebuddy took me, and my mom, and da rest of da puppies, and put us in a BOX thing, and LEFT us somewhere - in a 'bandoned house! We had COOTIES all over us! (that's sarcoptic mange, Roxie) It made us itch and scratch a lot, and being stuffed in that box was BAD.
Somebuddy found us, and gave us to a nice rescue lady. Julie, da rescue lady, said I was a 'lil SNOT! So I went to schnauzer boot camp, with my meanolemom, so da schnauzers could teach me MANNERS. (Hmpf.) My dad said I looked like a 'lil nekkid rat thing. (Did NOT!!!!!!!!!!!)
My MeanOleMom got rid of da cooties, and I started to grow HAIR. By then, dad said I was the bestest Roxie in the WORLD, and they should keep mememe!!! (Give da humans LOTS of kissers, this helps!)
So now I gets to live with a bunch of those schnauzers, and foster doggers looking for their homes!!
I likes: TOYS, 'specially my Frog, playing outside, and playing with puppies! I loves it when we foster puppies!
I do NOT like: BAFFS!!!!
If YOU look for a rescue dog, YOU might end up with da bestest dog ever, TOO!!!!"

AnnaBelle's Would Like to Introduce - Rebecca!
Rebecca is my fourth Golden, and I always end up loving each one as much as the ones before her. Going to dog class is my very favorite thing to do with her. Learning more about dog behavior and training is such a bonding experience, and I love watching her improve in our training. With all my previous dogs, I would always get to a certain point in our classes, and then give up because it seemed too hard. I decided not to give up this time, and it's so rewarding to see it paying off. It makes me so proud to go places and have people tell me she's so well behaved. Wow! So, it can be done!! And it's even more fun to see that she enjoys the 'training game' as much as I do. Rebecca is thrilled to be Annabelle's newest Pet Star!

Kevin Eedy and Lois Franchino, natives of Lansing who currently reside just outside Wacousta, are the proud pet parents of several English Mastiffs. They breed and show their beloved Mastiffs as well as supporting the Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue.
Their first Mastiff, Nemo, was a big lover who forever changed their lives. Nemo is the reason that Michigan Mastiffs, aka Starfleet Mastiffs, exists. Nemo came to them from Arizona and though he was not a show dog, he had what everyone wants in Mastiff personality. Kind and gentle and always happy, he gave Kevin and Lois 8 wonderful years before he passed. Nemo developed a degenerative nerve disease at age 6 which slowly robbed him of the use of his back legs. Kevin and Lois did therapy and acupuncture for Nemo along with medications to help him through his problems and he was always the same happy, smiling dog right up till the end.
Kevin and Lois currently have 8 mastiffs and a Great Dane named Seven, who is mother hen to them all. Visit www.michiganmastiffs.com and you can meet Tasha, Vash, Nerys, Troi, Crusher, Worf, Riker, and Ilea.
Since joining the AnnaBelle's family, Kevin and Lois have learned so much about their dogs and managing their pack both through classes and day care. Their dogs love coming to AnnaBelle's, which is evident when they try racing to the door! Of course, this violates the loose leash walking rule, but they're working on it (smile). Kevin and Lois also love to be around the staff and clients at AnnaBelle's, who all adore animals and are serious about learning how to help their dogs and themselves. Kevin recently took Vash through ABC: Agility Builds Confidence and says the entire class really came together as a group -- he was quite surprised that the whole class didn't do a big group hug at the end of the last class session! Kevin and Lois hope you love and enjoy your dogs as much as they love and enjoy theirs.
Hello there! My name is Dozer. But my mom has lots of other names for me, too. Some of her favorites are Little Angel, Mr. Poops, Little Mr. Crispy Toes, and Little Mr. True Love. At AnnaBelle’s, Erica calls me Dozer D!
So a little about me. I was born on December 5th, 2009 in Lansing and my mom brought me home on January 17th. We do lots of fun things together:
- Go on walksies
- Go to the parksie
- Play in the rivers
- Go to visit my families (I still visit with my mother and brother Boxer friends)
I also sometimes get to go for ice creams in Old Town. We like to go to Soldan’s and the Westside Park in Lansing. I have a girlfriend named Phe and I am very true to her.
I also love to play with my toys and to play tugsy. I actually like to destroy many of them (I tear them up and get the squeaks and then I bite the squeaks until they’re silent; then mom takes them away). But they’re my toys so I get to do whatever I like with them! Some of my favorite foods are chickens and spinaches. I know a few tricks (sit, lay, stay, come, shake, roll over, wait) and I’ve learned some tricks as a circus bear at AnnaBelle’s on the agility equipment. I’m a very happy boy and I love, love, love AnnaBelle’s Pet Station and all my friends there!
Dozer's mom is Autumn Dodge, a Doctoral Student in Educational Psychology & Educational Technology at Michigan State University
