JANUARY

FEBRUARY

  • Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter’s “Best Friends Fest,” in memory of Emmy, a severely neglected dog who they were unable to save.  Pet Photography, Raffle, Refreshments, Silent Auction, Nail Trims, and Training Demos!

MAY

  • Williamston Bark for Life. Dog walk, contests for Best Trick, Best Smile, Best Wag, Funniest Trick, Longest Ears, Loudest Bark, and Owner/Dog Look-a-Like contest. Training Demos and Goody Bags!
  • Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter Woofer Walk. Dogs and their people will be walking to raise funds for the homeless animals of Ingham County. Woofer Walk T-Shirts, Prizes, and Goodie Bags! Walk with your dog to help the animals of the Ingham County Animal Shelter. Your participation helps lost, abandoned and abused animals in Ingham County. Funding helps our animals with medication, medical care and food. Walk as an individual with your dog, or put a team of people and dogs together for the walk. The whole team can help raise funds for the animals. Ask your family, friends, co-workers and local vendors to pledge toward you or your team.
  • Pickin’ in the Park. Oldtown Lansing. Pickin’ in the Park is a weekly social affair and jam session for artists, musicians, and residents in the heart of Old Town. Pickin’ in the Park is held every Tuesday from 6pm-Dusk May-October in Burchard Park in Old Town. When it gets a little chilly, Pickin’ moves inside to its winter home, Grand Cafe/Sir Pizza at the corner of Grand River & Turner on the First and Third Tuesday’s at 6pm.
  • Wildflower Weekend. Woldumar Nature Center.

JUNE

  • AnnaBelle’s Pet Station Presents Dog Friendly Lansing as part of the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau Be a Tourist in Your Own Town event!
  • Filthy 5K
  • Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter’s Adoptafest. In addition to an amazing 30 hour adoption event, there is face-painting, a raffle, contests (ugliest dog, dog limbo, bobbing for tennis balls. The event includes many pet business vendors and even a midnight movie with a pet pajama party!
  • Lansing Lugnuts Bark in the Park. Bring your dog to the ball park!

  • Pickin’ in the Park. Oldtown Lansing. Pickin’ in the Park is a weekly social affair and jam session for artists, musicians, and residents in the heart of Old Town.   • Summer Circle Theatre. Outdoor theatre on the banks of the Red Cedar River. All shows are free and start at 8 p.m. rain or shine.
  • Biggby Dog Days of Summer. Last Sunday in June. Fun Prizes, Free dog treats, Free professional dog photos, Live Music, Free Iced Brewed Coffee and Drink Specials. (This is the Biggby located where Saginaw and Oakland meet on Lansing’s west side).

  • Dog Days of Summer – Williamston, MI. Bring your pets to Williamston for fun with this event from the Williamston Area Chamber of Commerce. Activities include a dog parade, pet costume contest, sprinkler park and dog pool, Deputy Dog contest, Fat Cat contest, hot dog dunking pool, dog bandannas, pet psychic, dog behavior questions answered, rescue groups, animal shelter drive, animal adoptions, pet clothing, pet grooming. Other family activities include music, dog art auction, and much more.
  • Great Lakes Folk Festival. Downtown East Lansing.
  • Lansing JazzFest. Dogs welcome everywhere except inside the beer tent.

  • Capital Area Humane Society’s Annual Run/Walk for the Animals. 5K run/walk, pet vendors, training demos, goody bags, agility course, lunch, and much more!
  • Old Town BluesFest. Dogs permitted everywhere except inside the beer tent.

  • Harris Nature Center Walking Club. Harris Nature Center, located in Okemos, Michigan, offers guided walks all year long. While all of their guided walks are dog-friendly, they offer monthly “Howl at the Moon” walks especially for you and your canine best friend.

    Andy T’s let dogs shop with their owners as long as they are on a leash. In the fall, they host night bonfires that dogs are welcome to attend with their owners. Check their web site for night tours and stay tuned in to get the latest information on upcoming event dates.
  • Planet Walk (on the Lansing River Trail) A two mile walk through our solar system, where you can observe the planets from the sun to Pluto. Your journey starts outside Impression Five Science Center and ends near the Potter Park Zoo. With each footstep, you’ll cover one million scale miles.
